My Artist

Hunter has an insatiable appetite for art projects.  I allow him to have free access to markers and glue and tape and scissors and scrap paper and any other trash/cardboard items that I might otherwise discard that might help spur and develop his creative side.  I cleared out a cabinet right by the kitchen table for all of his art supplies to be right at his fingertips.

Pretty much every day without fail he walks into the house, takes off his backpack, and heads straight for the cabinet with his art supplies to create some fantastic piece of something.  One of his favorite things to do is to make something out of paper and "laminate" it.  He's seen me use clear packing tape to laminate things like birthday crowns and he's decided that many of the treasures that he makes are worthy of lamination.  For instance, the other day he traced the outline one of his guns onto a piece of black paper, cut it out, and laminated it with packing tape on both sides to make himself a one-of-a-kind bookmark.

Last week he made some signs to post around the house.

This one is a Map Of The House.

He's explaining how to use it in this picture. It's a handy map that Hunter decided to post on the wall in case anyone comes to our house and doesn't know where the rooms are.   They can just look at this map and they won't get lost.   Now, why didn't I think of that??

He also went to work on an elaborate picture of him being the bad guy, riding on top of a vehicle.  He's shooting Nathanael, who's the good guy.  Nathanael is the stick figure wearing the green hat.  Hunter decided to put the sign on his bedroom door and wrote "Hunter's Room" on it.  Then, he remembered that it's Nathanael's room too, so he made Nathanael a sign with a cobra on it.   Then he decided that he could just add the other one's name to both signs.  Then he got some tape and taped them to their bedroom door.

If you need any maps or room signs made for your house, let Hunter know and I'm sure he'd be happy to make some for you.
