Show Time and Surgery Update Number 1
Mom was called back to get prepped for surgery.
They put her IV in and hooked her up to all of the necessary equipment
And the fantastic team that's taking care of her during surgery
came in to talk with her one by one.
The two men of the hour
Dr. Camarata, the neurosurgeon
and
Dr. Lin, the neurotologist
spent time asking questions and had her sign paperwork
and made sure they marked the correct ear, thank you very much.
And this funny guy...the anesthesiologist whose name we didn't catch
was a light-hearted, cheerful, and reassuring man who made all of us smile.
Everybody who is taking care of her today has made us feel confident that she is in the very BEST hands possible.
As we waited for the OR to be readied we made sure she was all set with her wires and IVs
we had a word of prayer and chatted and joked.
Then a man came to put some preliminary happy juice in her IV
and mom was feelin' groovy,
and then it was time to say goodbye.
After they wheeled her away
Nancy, a rock star neurosurgical nurse coordinator,
Upgraded our waiting room from this
To THIS!
We also got a brief history of the hospital and a sneak peek of the ICU room
where she'll be staying after surgery.
It's been 90 minutes since she was wheeled back into surgery
and as I was working on this post we just got our first update!
She is doing very well and her vital signs are perfect. Dr. Lin is taking his time drilling and removing small bits of bone and making their way carefully to the inner ear.
We'll keep you posted when we get the next update!
