As we waited for the events to begin, Levi tried out the hurdles.
The cones ended up getting more action from Levi than the hurdles...
First event was the running long jump. Nathanael completed it with determination and confidence.
Hunter completed it as well, but had the obstacle of his baby brother running toward him as he was jumping. This photo was taken just as I ran after Levi to grab him.
Luckily, I got him out of the way just before Hunter landed. Unfortunately, we didn't get the full picture of his jump. :(
Check out the air that Nathanael got jumping over those hurdles!!!
Hunter's hurdles were adjusted to be higher for his age group
and he cleared them with no problem!
After several events with Levi having to watch from the sidelines, it was finally time for him to show his stuff in the Diaper Dash! We just knew he'd have this in the bag with all the times he had practiced starting to run while we said, "On your mark! Get set! Go!" in the living room for the past couple months. It was his for the taking! And so... the moment arrived.
On your mark!
Get set!
GO!
Wait! Levi!
Over here, Levi! Don't go that way!
The finish line is over there! Not that way!!
Oh well....
He did much better at the softball toss.
Nathanael had never been to SAINTS before. He only knew 4-5 kids out of the entire group of 70+ kids. Before the end of the day, he had made lots of friends. He has a way about him that makes it so that everyone knows his name by the end of the day. I don't know what stories he was telling the children in these photos,
but all eyes were on Nathanael.
If you look closely at the photo below, you can see him high-fiving some random person we don't know on the sidelines during the mile run. The director of the entire Saints program of Florida was there that day and he knew Nathanael's name in the first 10 minutes. Mr. Popularity.
The mile race was the last event of the day and it's Hunter's favorite. He lapped his little brother once during the race and was in the handful of those who finished first.
All of us had a great time at Saints field day and are so glad we had the opportunity to go.
Hunter has had a blast going every Friday afternoon this year and we look forward to many more years of SAINTS being a part of his homeschool education.
