I must say that we had quite the blast at our house during our St. Patrick's day celebration.
The festivities brought out the hidden leprechaun in Hunter. Here he is with an orange, beaded beard hanging from his ears while he holds a green pot of gold.
A few things gathered for our day's activities:
We started off the morning with circle time, as always.
It was Tristan's turn to hold the flag as we said the Pledge of Allegiance.
We burned off some of the "sitting still" energy that we had cooped up during circle time
and danced with green balloons afterwards.
Next we went on a treasure hunt outside for treasure of course!!! Gold coins to be exact.
We had sparkly green, cardboard buckets to collect our coins.
Each of the boys had a certain number of coins they were looking for to fill up their game board. The boys filling their gold coin game boards.
We took some time to color pictures of rainbows and leprechauns.
We had a fruit rainbow treat for snack with green yogurt for dipping.
The marshmallow clouds were definitely the boys' favorite part of the rainbow.
Broccoli, green grapes, and pesto pasta with chicken was on the menu for lunch.
We made shamrocks out of potatoes cut out into a heart stamp and dipped in green paint. Tristan and Nathanael had a hard time with this craft and needed a lot of help.
Hunter did a great job on his own with it, though.
No holiday celebration at our home daycare would be complete without a themed sensory activity!
We combined white beans, green lentils, and split peas along with the gold coins from our treasure
hunt to sort and spill and pour into various containers.
And the boys wore sparkly, green hats that Tristan brought along
while they worked hard playing with the beans.
We also learned the letter "G". We painted our letter G with
green glue and then sprinkled our Gs with green glitter.
We had so much fun at our St. Patrick's day celebration!!
