Superman! To the rescuuuuuuuue!

My boys love to pretend to be superman and have asked me to tie their favorite blanky around their necks countless times to be a cape. I got rather tired of this. I began to wish that they could have just a regular cape that fastened easily around their neck so that I could be spared of the meltdowns that ensued when their blankie capes petered out and fell off.

My mom made Hunter a cowboy vest for Halloween when he was almost 3 that can be seen here.   It still gets worn and played with multiple times a week in our house.   It really has tickled my mom that all of the hard work she put into making that vest is still paying off more than two years later.

Enter Grandma to the rescue!  I showed my mom a couple of pictures of capes on Etsy and she said she thought she could do it, no problem!  A couple of weeks later and she sent me a picture of the capes in their favorite color with an their initial on the emblem.  Woo hoo!!!   Behold, the finished result:

The boys had absolutely no idea.  Yesterday when my mom got home from work she had them sit out on the deck to wait for their surprise.  Hunter covered his eyes in excited anticipation and Nathanael just sat and wondered what was going on.
 "Wow!  It's a superman cape!"
 "Thank you, Grandma!!!"
"Can you put it on me, Grandma?"
Nathanael always sings this superman song when he's pretending to be Superman.  It kind of goes to the tune of the few opening notes of the Superman theme song.  He sings the same tune and words over and over and over and over again.   "Super-maaan.......to the rescuuuuuuuuue!     Super-maaan.......to the rescuuuuuuuuue!"
And I have to say that the pictures do not do the capes justice.  The way they lay and flow and hang around their shoulders are all just perfect!   SO happy that the days of tying tattered blankies around their necks over and over again in a day are gone.  Exciting adventure surely await Grandma's two little supermen!!!
