Rewind: March 2011--Who knew?

That low potassium could put one big, strong, otherwise healthy daddy in the hospital??
Well, that's what happened to our daddy on the 17th of March!
Josh awoke in the middle of the night with his arms and legs all cramped up.  Couple that with a wicked case of what turned out to be heartburn and it was reason enough for him to drive himself to the hospital at 3 am while I stayed home with the boys.
He called at 6am that morning to let me know that they were admitting him for testing. We were both pretty surprised as all of the initial tests they did in the emergency room on his heart were coming back fine.  He called me again at 8 saying that he was feeling much better and was thinking about flying the coop against doctor's orders.
He was advised against doing that, of course, and underwent the day of extensive testing.  THANKFULLY, all was well with his heart.  He passed all of his tests with flying colors.  Woo hoo!  Except for one, that is:  his potassium was dangerously low!!  So low, in fact, that the doctor said he couldn't belive that Josh actually walked in to the ER on his own because people are usually cramped up and curled in the fetal position when it's as low as his was.  Yowsers!!!
Needless to say, there were many bananas waiting for Josh when he was discharged the next day.  And he was feeling so much better after the mega dose pills of potassium he had been given in the hospital.

And we were very, VERY happy to have our healthy daddy back!!!
