Easy to Forget

There are some times when I'm walking down the hallway of church and someone asks me, "How's Nathanael's head doing?" And I have to stop and think a second about what the heck they are talking about and then I realize, "DUH! How could you forget, Teri?!"
And I smile and am happy to say to them that he is absolutely FINE! And that the Lord totally and completely healed him with no further complications or problems ever since THAT DAY!

If you're not sure what day I'm talking about, take a look back at these posts that I wrote when Nathanael was a babe and I'm sure that you will be encouraged by this miracle that our sovereign God so lovingly decided to perform on our boy:

JUNE 17, 2008 (Nathanael was 3 months old)

So...when Nathanael was born on March 24, 2008 at Naples Family Birth Center (the BEST place in Collier County to have a baby) they did his newborn exam and were like, "Huh. He doesn't have a soft spot. Interesting." No big deal, just kinda weird. So we go home and have our first Dr. appt with Dr. Cordero, our excellent pediatrician, and he tells us that the official name of the soft spot is the Fontanel and yes, it is a big deal that he doesn't have one. It can kinda put a damper on his brain growth and development. So after much research on the issue, and freaking out, I let our preschool director at church know and she hooked me up with the phone number of Julie, a former fellow co-worker of mine, who went through a very similar situation with her second daughter. Julie quickly jumped into action and got me the number of the surgeon who did her daughter's surgery as well as contacted our pastor to set up a time for him and the deacons of our church to lay hands on Nathanael and pray for healing. Sooooooo, the pastors and deacons laid hands about 5 weeks ago and prayed this AWESOME prayer that made my husband cry and we have our appointment with Dr. Stelnicki tomorrow in Miami. Many people are praying for him and we feel so BLESSED beyond belief that God has used the warmth, love, and friendship we experience at our church to give us a wonderful glimpse as to how much He loves and cares for our family. No matter what we find out tomorrow as to what Nathanael might need, we know that God loves and cares for him way beyond what we can imagine. You can go here to see the before and after pics of this Dr.'s work on sweet little babies.

And NEXT...THIS HAPPENED!!!:
Wow. God is so merciful and good to us!
Sorry this is so long, but it's so remarkable for me to be able to look back and see how God worked in the situation. Here is the timeline of how things went down with Nathanael's head:

  • March 24 - Nathanael is born. Exam at Naples Family Birth Center - NO SOFT SPOT
  • March 26 - Pediatrician newborn visit. Exam with Dr. Cordero - NO SOFT SPOT and we're told that the situation will be monitored very closely in the coming months. Surgery may be needed if things don't change.
  • April 24 - Pediatrician 1 month visit. Exam with Dr. Cordero - STILL NO SOFT SPOT
  • May 7 - Chiropractic/Cranial Therapy visit. Exam with Dr. Seekins - NO SOFT SPOT. Dr. Seekins reiterates that while we shouldn't be scared yet, the situation could be serious in the coming months.
  • May 20 - Chiropractic/Cranial Therapy visit. Exam with Dr. Seekins - STILL NO SOFT SPOT
  • May 17 - Preschool director at our church gets word of Nathanael's situation and gives us the name and number of Julie, whose daughter went through a similar situation when she was born and needed surgery.
  • May 19 - I talk with Julie on the phone and she jumps into action getting us the number of the surgical specialist, Dr. Stelnicki, who operated on her daughter, as well as sets it up with our pastors and deacons to lay hands on Nathanael and pray for him.
  • May 21 - Deacons and pastors of our church lay hands and pray for Nathanael. AMAZING experience for our family.
  • May 22 - (1 day after laying of hands) Pediatrician 2 month visit. Exam with Dr. Cordero - STILL NO SOFT SPOT
  • May 29 - Chiropractic/Cranial Therapy visit. Exam with Dr. Seekins - She tells me that she can feel REMARKABLE difference in the movement of the plates in Nathanael's head since our last visit and that low and behold, she thinks she can feel a tiny, little softspot after some manipulation of his skull. Woo hoo!
  • June 18 - Drive to Miami to Cranial Reconstruction Specialist - Exam with Dr. Stelnicki - HE FEELS A SMALL SOFT SPOT WITHOUT A DOUBT!! He even has me put my finger on it and I can feel it too! He says while it's smaller than he'd like, he's still pretty positive that Nathanael will not have to have surgery. We still need to get a CAT scan, just to be sure. We have a follow up appt. with him the end of July.
I don't know about you, but I know that God used the prayers and hands of our church family to heal our little boy's skull. We are so thankful!!! Woo Hoo!

DUDE. Can you believe that?????
The all powerful Creator of the Universe chose to heal our baby boy's head!

Thank you, Father!!! You ROCK!!!
And forgive me for when I've forgotten to praise You AGAIN and AGAIN because of this!!
