Much to the delight and surprise of Hunter, Daddy informed him this past week that he had an early birthday present for him to open. NOW! Two months ahead of his birthday!!
What? What could it be?
Here's Hunter with his eyes closed, waiting patiently for his present.
Here it is!! What's in the box?
Wait...it says, "Bear Archery" Archery?
It's a bow!!!!
You see, now that Hunter is a homeschooling student he and his Daddy will be going on their very first hunting trip this fall!! They both are so excited about it! Daddy knows that because of the way the hunting dates fall, they'll get to hunt only a little during rifle season. Most of their trip will happen during bow season, so he wanted to make sure that Hunter had enough time to practice and learn how to use it. The next night was Friday night so after a quick dinner salad at home we headed out to Basspro for our family night so Hunter could get his bow adjusted to his body properly.
We got to go into the bow range and watch Hunter test it out!
The Basspro bow guy had to make some practice shots, tweak some things, and then it was Hunter's turn to try it out. Hunter was hitting the target just fine.
Meanwhile, mommy took Nathanael and Levi around the store. I didn't get any photos, but Levi went bonkers with excitement over the fish tank. It was fun to watch him. Nathanael stopped to play with some squeaky bird toys for dogs.
Levi thought the sounds they made were hilarious and really fun!
The next day we set up a target and Hunter began working on his form and posture.
Mr. Levi wanted to be down on the grass with his big brothers,
but safety ruled over his desires.
He just had to hang out on the porch with mommy
and his teething, drooley self.
And watch from on the steps in the sunshine.
